Intro to TypographyAug.30: Review how to use the text tool in Illustrator. Finish Elements of Art page and post to blog as a .jpg. Learn the basics of Typography by watching A lesson on typography and The History of Typography - Animated Short, then read "What font should I choose" and fill out worksheet, then complete Exercise 1. Exercise 1: On one letter sized vertical page, Find 5 typefaces that you like in Illustrator. Type"Computer Graphic Arts" in all 5 faces. Classify the 5 faces ( Geometric, Humanist, Old Style, Transitional, Modern, and Slab Serif ). Show to Mrs. Bible when complete, then do the type and shape exercise. Due EOC 9/2 posted to blog as .jpg
Sept. 1: Review creating paths from live text in Illustrator. Read article from last class. for fun: 11 Fonts That Designers Love To Hate Fill in Site Master Here Project 1: Character Poster: Create an 11" x 17" poster for print, either horizontal or vertical. Choose one character from the alphabet. Study it in multiple fonts, upper and lower case. Use multiple scales, sizes, faces, but only use black & white. Look at positive and negative space. Make sure you use the entire page. Final poster Due EOC 9/8 saved as.jpg and posted to your print portfolio page.
