Nov. 14: Continue working on your collage. Remember the challenge is to create an original work of art using copyrighted material. You must be able to justify Fair Use. You are using either Illustrator or Photoshop. Nov. 16: Your collage is due today End of Class posted to your website (portfolio page w/ text block) for review. Remember the challenge is to create an original work of art using copyrighted material. In 3-5 sentences explain how your piece falls into the category of Fair Use.
Assignment: Fair Use Collage
Create a new file at 8" x 8". "Cut out" (copyrighted) images from the web (advertisements) using mask in Illustrator or Layer mask in Photoshop. Mix the images together into a collage. You should rework and change the images to create a new, original work that can be called fair use. When you are finished, post your collage to your website on the Portfolio page. We will review and examine how well each collage fits the key points of fair use. Students will vote for the “best fair use collage” in class. |
